Uncuffed: Bulletproofing the Police Marriage

DAY 11 OF 40

Have Sex

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 1:28 (ESV)

A happy spouse in the sheets makes a better cop on the streets. The physical, physiological, and psychological benefits of sexual intimacy in marriage not only keep you both connected but adds marital Kevlar to your 2:24 Unit.

Did you know?

Less Stress – married people have less dramatic responses to psychological stress. This becomes so important in combating the effects of PTSD.

Richer – married people experience per person net worth increases of 77% over single people. Married people also gained significantly more wealth than divorced people. Also, people who divorce in their 40’s never recover from the financial loss.

Safer – married people take fewer risks (including substance abuse) and live happier, with better health benefits.

Survive – married people have better cancer survival rates than single or divorced.

Live Longer – marriage lowers the mortality rate for men by 80% and for women by 59%. Non-covenant living together actually reduces the lifespan.

There’s no denying that a 2:24 Unit is better for both spouses’ health, wealth and happiness. Don’t deny one another the joy that God created for your pleasure.

BTW: despite popular belief, the Bible does not have a list of What Not To Do in your marriage bed. As long as it’s mutual and pleasing to both of you, have at it!!

CALL TO ACTION:

Does sex take the shape of a weapon or reward in your marriage? It’s time for both of you to have an honest conversation about the issues you may be having in your sexual relationship.

If adultery or porn addiction is present, stop pretending that it doesn’t affect the connection. Talk about it to help the healing process. If need be, work with a Christian marriage counselor.
