A Prayer to Have Intimacy with Jesus

Dear child of mine,

The thought of you brings a smile to my face. Your very essence fills my heart with so much hope and joy. Oh, I am so blessed and thankful for you!

My prayer for you today, and every day, is that you will saturate your life in prayer. I pray that you will know there is power in the name of Jesus! Know that everything must bow in His presence. I have faith that my words don't hit the ceiling - that God is taking notice of my prayers over you. I, myself, am learning the beauty and the power of prayer. God knows everything about us, yet He invites us to still share our hearts with Him because He loves us.

Little One, understand that prayer is not a wishlist. It's purpose isn't to get from God, but rather to experience intimacy with Him in relationship. He desires to be near you, to lead and guide and guard you. So, through Jesus, you have an invitation to come boldly to God's throne of grace where you will receive love and mercy over any anxiety, uncertainty, request and desire. Prayer is a one on one conversation with the Lord. It's a privilege and a gift.

One day, I look forward to drinking lemonade with you on hot summer days, talking about your friends, your interests, your goals and your challenges. One day, we will share secrets together and jokes and cherished memories. This is something I am so looking forward to. As you grow, our conversations will mature from finger painting, to college choices, relationship advice and money matters. There is no topic off limits with me and there should be no topic off limits to God. Tell Him everything, because He loves you most of all!

In the days to come and throughout your whole life, my prayer for you is that you develop a prayer life more intimate than any other relationship or conversation. Trust the Lord with your thoughts, your anxieties, your hopes and dreams, your dilemmas and your successes. Trust Him with your present and with your future and even with your past. He sees your beginning and your end, all at the same time, and He has declared that you are His masterpiece! So trust Him. Talk to Him. Include Him in your life and in your day. His presence will propel you in this life and in the life to come.
