90 Days to Wholeness: A Porn Addiction Recovery Devotional for WomenSample
For the next 18 days, we will journey through the step of taking responsibility for our actions. Also known as making restitution or amends, taking responsibility is about owning our part of the story. But it is also about accepting what is not our part and allowing us to be released from it. Let’s first begin by looking at owning our part.
Addicts often play the blame game, especially as they are leaving a life of addiction and are in the early stages of recovery. It is often easier for an addict to project responsibility away from themselves and onto their circumstances or others, which releases them from personal responsibility.
Taking responsibility for our actions is an important step to take. Regardless of whatever abuse, lack of affection, or any other wound has been inflicted on us, we are responsible for the choices we make today.
How have you wrongfully released yourself from responsibility for your behavior? In other words, when it comes to your actions, how have you projected responsibility onto someone or something else?
