Divorce To Healing: 31 Days Of Healing And WholenessSample
"Baggage"
Whatever you bring into a new relationship that hasn’t been dealt with in a healthy manner and been healed is similar to a hard-shelled Samsonite with a bum wheel.
If you are wounded, get healing. If you are confused, get wisdom. If you are bitter, get forgiveness. Don’t carry it on to the next relationship.
How would you feel if your son or daughter came back from college for a visit and brought you 3 extra bags filled with rotten food from the dorm fridge? Why didn’t they just deal with this by getting rid of it before they came to see you?
Now, think about a possible new relationship you may have in the future. Would you like them bringing you bags of bitterness, pain, spite, anger, addiction, or any number of things? Is that fair to you?
When we carry things with us into our future that were meant to stay in the past, it causes us to force it upon someone else that does not deserve to have to deal with it.
Does it mean you can’t move on until you deal it? No, but you will never be healed and whole until you do. Would you want to jump into a leaky boat with only some of the holes plugged or repaired? You will still sink.
Have you ever wondered what happens to the bags you leave behind? They sit going around in circles until they are collected and destroyed. Let them be. You have places to go and it will only hold you back.
Prayer
God, right now I choose to let go of _______ and I refuse to go back to pick it up ever again. May it always remain in my past, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
