Working From Rest: A Prayer JourneySample
Sabbath Renewal
Lord, please help me to honour the Sabbath by ‘not going my own way’. May I delight in your day of rest.
‘Keeping the Sabbath’ became, in the Christian culture of the last century, a series of ‘thou shalt nots’ instead of positive practice of rest and renewal. God’s intention was that the Sabbath would be a day of delight, not one of onerous religious duty – a day of worship and restoration. It provides the opportunity to stop, press the reset button, and regain our bearings.
For reflection: In what way is the Sabbath a delight to you?

About this Plan
Sabbath rest is essential to our identity as God’s people: a gift to refresh us and equip us for good work. But many of us find it hard to do. This prayer journey will help you explore the reasons for restlessness, God’s gift of rest, and how your work – in your job, your home, or your street – can flow from that place of rest and connection with Him.
