Working From Rest: A Prayer JourneySample
Working from Rest
Jesus, I long to bear good and lasting fruit. Help me, in both my rest and work, to remain in you.
We were chosen to bear fruit in every aspect of our lives, including our work. That fruit is not the result of our effort but our obedience. Paul, in lockdown, has had his travelling ministry curtailed. His ‘work’ is now to witness to the palace guard and write letters of instruction and encouragement to the fledgling churches he has planted – work that has borne fruit for two thousand years!
For reflection: What is God pruning in this season, that you may be even more fruitful?
We hope that you’ve enjoyed this prayer journey. If you’d like to keep receiving reflections to help you in your everyday life as a disciple of Christ, you can sign up to our Word for the Week and Connecting with Culture emails. They’re designed to equip you to see your life out there in the world through God’s eyes.
And if you’d like to go deeper into the Bible, use our Whole Life, Whole Bible resource to walk through the big story of scripture and how it can shape every part of your life.

About this Plan
Sabbath rest is essential to our identity as God’s people: a gift to refresh us and equip us for good work. But many of us find it hard to do. This prayer journey will help you explore the reasons for restlessness, God’s gift of rest, and how your work – in your job, your home, or your street – can flow from that place of rest and connection with Him.
