Who Are the Scoffers?
Proverbs 10:17
The person who accepts corrections is on the way to life. But the person who ignores correction will be ruined.
A scoffer is someone who insults and mocks another person or idea, in a way that shows that they think that person is silly. A scoffer voices his disagreement, ridicules all who stand against him and actively recruits others to join his side. You and I cannot totally escape the presence of the scoffers among us.
The Bible says that people who try to correct the scoffers will be rejected because such people do not accept any corrections or suggestions. Giving them corrections is like catching the wind. It is meaningless.
On the contrary, the wise and righteous person is open for advice and appreciates any corrections that make them better and increase their knowledge. Accepting corrections is not easy and it requires a humble heart.
Wise kids will stay humble and listen to what others have to say. Wise kids love to learn and will take any opportunity they can get to better themselves, even if it means setting their ego aside.
Would you like to be a scoffer or a wise kid?
Prayer
Dear God, give me a humble heart to always listen to all constructive corrections from others. Amen.
