Discretion and Understanding Keep You Safe

Proverbs 2:11

Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.

According to the dictionary, discretion means the quality of showing good judgment. Understanding means the quality of analyzing a situation well, knowing the good points and bad points of a situation. Both discretion and understanding are the attributes of wisdom. 

For example, imagine having a cough, but you feel like eating ice-cream. However, before buying the ice-cream, with discretion and understanding you analyze what the good and bad points of eating ice-cream are while you are having a cough. After analyzing it, you will choose not to do it. 

The Bible says that by having both discretion and understanding, you will be safe from the way of evil. When you have both of them, you will be unlikely to act inappropriately or say inappropriate words.

Prayer

Dear God, help me to be a person of discretion and understanding. I long to live for You as a person with Godly character. Amen.
