What Can You Do?Sample

Every day, we spend a lot of time thinking about ourselves. We think about what we want to wear, what others are thinking about us, how we are feeling, and what we do and don’t have. Because we think about ourselves so much, it’s natural to want to put ourselves first and make sure that we are taken care of before we want to think about someone else. 

When Jesus was on earth, He lived in the completely opposite way. Jesus was constantly putting other people above Himself, and thinking about them before He thought about His own needs. Jesus thought about other people above Himself so much that it was the reason He died for us - because He loved us that much and wanted to put us first. 

When we serve someone else, it is the opportunity to follow Jesus’ example and put someone else above ourselves, filling their needs first and then our own. By doing so, we are truly serving someone else and obeying the way that Jesus told us to live and serve others.

Challenge: Today we challenge you to put someone else’s needs before your own. Think about the people who you will interact with today, and ask God to help you think of ways to put them before yourself.
