What Can You Do?Sample
Let’s be honest - some people are really hard to love. Some people are really hard to like - even a little bit. There are people in all of our lives who we just don’t like: people who are mean, people who leave us out, people who are really different than us. While it’s hard to like them, it’s even harder to serve them.
There were a lot of people who didn’t like Jesus, but He chose to serve them anyway, and He called us to do the same. Jesus told a story of a man who no one liked who needed help. One Good Samaritan was the only person who stepped in and served that man. When He finished the story, Jesus asked those who were listening who they thought was the good neighbor to the disliked man, and then told them to go and do the same thing that man did and serve the people around them that weren’t easy to serve and love.
We don’t get to pick and choose who we should love, because Jesus loves everyone and tells us to do the same. If we choose to show love to everyone, even the people who aren’t easy to love, we are obeying what Jesus calls us to do, and we are showing them not only our love but the love of God at the same time.
Challenge: Today we challenge you to take a look at those around you and identify one or two people who you just don’t like. Then, find a way to serve those people. Pray for them, and ask God to give you the strength to serve those people, even if you don’t like them.

About this Plan
You may look at the problems around you and wonder, "What can I do?" Jesus calls us to see a need and meet that need. We are to serve others. Over the next 10 days, we'll take a look at what it means to serve and what that looks like.
