Just ten years ago, every man, woman and child who now has a home in Shivnagar, Nepal was living in a form of slavery called 'bonded labour'. In 2001, following calls from human rights groups, the government ended bonded labour in the Tikapur district today the Shivnagar call themselves 'the freed community'.
Give thanks for freedom experienced by this community, yet slavery still happens today. Pray for the work of organisations and churches working to help set people free from oppression and slavery in all its forms around the world.
