Christmas Begins with ChristSample
In the Old Testament the 'word', or 'wisdom', of God is often personified: Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? (Proverbs 8:1)
We know that from elsewhere in this opening chapter of John's gospel that John is referring to Jesus as the Word. Read John 1:1-3 replacing the Word with Jesus. How does this change your reading of these verses?
Do we really believe and act in the knowledge that Jesus is totally God? If so, we would throw ourselves on his mercy. Pray for those in desperate situations of poverty who must throw themselves on God's mercy and love, because He is their only hope.
