There's Hope For TodaySample
Michael left the lawyer’s office after the reading of the will.
He was too stunned to speak when the lawyer walked him to the door. The receptionist said something as he cut across the lobby, but Michael didn’t hear. A courier jumped to get out of his way as he pushed through the double doors – Michael never saw him. On an empty sidewalk, he turned to stare at the office, then at the papers clutched in his hand. A frown wrinkled his brow. He had listened to every word at the reading, but the words deepened his confusion. Everything was wrong. For a moment, the clouds parted, and then he knew. There was only one explanation – only one reasonable conclusion. He sat down on the steps and rifled through the papers. “This can’t be right. This doesn’t make sense. This can’t be my father’s will.”
The name was right, but the address was wrong. How could it happen? He hurried back in to the law office. Michael had found the right lawyer, but received the wrong legacy. Impossible? It happens all the time.
The legacy that Christ left the church is peace, but it seems as though we’ve opened up the wrong will. Anxiety and fear are written on every page. Whose legacy are you living under?
