There's Hope For TodaySample
How can we stand under the weight of evil in our world? How can we bear up when circumstances turn mean and markets tumble? What remedy can be found to alleviate the pressure that mounts when life goes crazy?
The answer is found in the strengthening of the inner man. We fly in comfort in a frigid and inhospitable stratosphere because of the pressurized environment of the cabin. We can journey by submarine to the crushing depths of the ocean by creating pressure inside that equals the pressure outside. If the inner man is compromised, the soul is crushed under the weight of the world.
John tested the strength of the inner man against crush of external circumstances. His conclusion: “Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Paul said that he was “hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed” (2 Cor. 4:8). The increase of evil and stress in our culture must be met by the ever-increasing strength of God in us. By strengthening the inner man, the heroes of faith were able to prevail against the very “gates of hell.”
Before today’s sunset, you will probably encounter some kind of pressure to compromise. Christ, in you, overcomes the world.
