There's Hope For TodaySample
I wonder if Methuselah ever got tired of living? Do you think he ever rolled over in his seven hundredth year and said, “I’m just too tired to get up?” I wonder if he had trouble bridging the generation gap? In a life that spanned the better part of a millennium, a lot of questions are raised. How long was his mid-life crisis? How did he keep up with his great, great, great grandchildren?
How many wives did he bury? Did he feel that the world was changing too fast?
If life were measured only by length, Methuselah would be the most important figure in human history. As it is, he’s a biblical curiosity. Standing against Methuselah’s mind-boggling longevity, the life of Jesus is a comparative snapshot. Yet in His 33 years, He not only changed the course of human history, He fused it all – from the garden to the gates of the New Jerusalem – with meaning. In Revelation, He is both the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, and the King crowned world without end.
When a life is measured by its length alone that life is truly unmeasured. Be careful that your life is not reduced to the marking of time. Every day should count for more than its passing.
