Great Adventurers (Week 4)Sample
Day Three - God’s Way is Best
Welcome to our Great Adventurers Devotional! We are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey and look at some of the Great Adventurers in the Bible.
Today, we are continuing our journey with Jonah and looking at how God had a plan to save Jonah when the ship's crew threw him off the ship and into the sea.
READ:
'Jonah and the Big Fish' in the Beginners Bible (pages 257-264) or Jonah 1-3:10
As soon as the ship's crew threw Jonah into the sea it became calm! Apart from Jesus, I have never seen anyone be able to calm a raging storm in the sea. Have you? “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!”’
God sent a big fish to catch Jonah. Wow! God loves Jonah so much! Only God could tell the big fish where to find Jonah and how to keep Jonah safe!
Jonah prayed for three days and nights. He said sorry to God and eventually the fish spit Jonah out onto dry land.
God is so good! He knows everything about us: where we are, what we need, when we need it, and who He is going to send to help us! For Jonah, this was a Big Fish! For us, it may be our grownups, a family member, a friend, or someone in our church. We have so many wonderful people in our lives because God loves us!
ASK:
Wow! God is so amazing - he knows exactly what we need, when we need it, and who to send to help us!
Can you think of a time when God sent someone to help you?
Can you think of a way you can thank these people? Get creative and have fun with this!
Don’t forget to ask your grownups to take a photo of you doing this and share it with us on Facebook or Instagram.
REMEMBER:
‘Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!”’ (Matthew 19:26)
SAY:
I’m an adventurer.
I am bold. I am strong with the word of the Lord.
I will follow wherever You lead.
I won’t stop. I’ve been set free.
In Jesus name, Amen.
About this Plan
In the Bible, we see that through ‘Great Adventurers’ God has changed the world around them for good. God can take the seemingly bad things and turn them for good. We will follow in the footsteps of these ‘Great Adventurers’ and see how God, through their boldness, changed the world around them! This week we’re looking at the story of Jonah and our memory verse in Matthew 19:26.
