Great Adventurers (Week 4)Sample
Day Two - God’s Way is Best
Welcome to our Great Adventurers Devotional! We are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey and look at some of the Great Adventurers in the Bible.
Today, we are continuing our journey with our Great Adventurer Jonah by looking at how he tried to run away from God.
READ:
'Jonah and the Big Fish' in the Beginners Bible (pages 257-264) or Jonah 1-3:10
Jonah didn’t want to go to Nineveh so he ran away from God. He got on a boat to sail across the sea, away from Nineveh.
Jonah had forgotten that God is everywhere and can see us all wherever we are!
God sent a big storm to stop Jonah. The ship's crew were scared and thought that they would sink.
Jonah told the ship's crew that the storm had come because of him and that they had to throw him overboard!
Jonah was not wanting to do things God’s way. Whilst Jonah ran in the opposite direction of where God wanted him to go, Jonah ran into a whole heap of trouble!
God loved Jonah and had a plan to save Jonah when he was thrown overboard. Tomorrow, we will look at how wonderful God is and how He provided for Jonah.
ASK:
Did you know that God sees us all, wherever we are? God also loves us all and provides for us!
Today, draw a picture of Jonah on the boat during the storm.
Remember to ask your grownups to take a photo and share it with us on Facebook or Instagram!
REMEMBER:
‘Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!”’ (Matthew 19:26)
SAY:
I’m an adventurer.
I am bold. I am strong with the word of the Lord.
I will follow wherever You lead.
I won’t stop. I’ve been set free.
In Jesus name, Amen!
About this Plan
In the Bible, we see that through ‘Great Adventurers’ God has changed the world around them for good. God can take the seemingly bad things and turn them for good. We will follow in the footsteps of these ‘Great Adventurers’ and see how God, through their boldness, changed the world around them! This week we’re looking at the story of Jonah and our memory verse in Matthew 19:26.
