CONCRETE & CRANES: A 7-Day Devotional for KidsSample
Day 4 - Daily Bread
Are there days when you are hungry all day? You might have even heard your parent say, “Must be a growth spurt!” You need food each day to help you grow and be strong. When Jesus taught His followers to pray, He included asking God for the things we need. We obviously eat more than just bread, but “daily bread” describes the basic needs we have for the day. Jesus used the word daily to help His followers know to focus on today. Parents don’t usually pack their kids’ lunches today for next month or even next week. Parents usually pack just what their kids need for that day. Jesus taught us that God wants to give us today what we need for today. Don’t worry about tomorrow or stress about next week. Think about today and trust God to give you what you need.
PERSONAL BLUEPRINT
What are some things you need daily? List them in your journal or create your own icons to represent those needs.
PRAY
It’s easy to worry about having something you need tomorrow or next week. Practice thinking about just today and ask God to help you with what you need today.

About this Plan
When I think about the kids in my life, both in my family and at my church, I pray that each of them will discover the strong foundation of love that Jesus is. This 7-day devotional specifically focuses on prayer, a huge part of the framework of our faith. This excerpt is part of the book Concrete and Cranes: 100 Devotions Building on the Love of Jesus.
