GO2020 | ENGAGE: March Week 4 – CARESample

GO2020 | ENGAGE: March Week 4 – CARE

DAY 2 OF 7

March 23 – By Praying for Others

Read

Isaiah 53:12; Luke 23:34

Reflect

One of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal, in our efforts to care for people, is prayer. Rarely will someone refuse an offer to be prayed for, even if they don’t share our faith. Praying for others is an act of love and no one better modeled this than Jesus. Jesus, as the suffering servant, makes intercession for transgressors. On the cross, as we saw last week, Jesus prayed for those who were crucifying him. We model Christ when we pray for the hurting and the lost, even if they mistreat us.

Engage

Read today’s Scripture passages. Say or write them out in your own words, considering the following questions:

· What do they say about God?

· What do they say about us?

· Is there a promise to trust?

· Is there a command to obey?

· How will I apply these Scriptures to my life?

· Who will I show that I care by sharing these truths?

Memorize

Now read this week’s memory verse, Psalm 100:2. Spend a few minutes beginning to memorize it.

About this Plan

GO2020 | ENGAGE: March Week 4 – CARE

Is it possible to help others in such a way that it pushes them further from Christ rather than draws them toward him? When we serve others, we are actually serving God, and we are commanded to serve God with gladness (Psalm 100:2). Let’s look to God’s Word to better understand how we should care for and serve others.
