Get Excited About Reading the Bible!Sample
KEEP GOING
Listen, I get it. We all want answers and manifestations now, and if that doesn’t happen, disappointment can set in. But here’s the deal—stopping is not going to get you there! Be honest about your disappointment, tell God about it, then keep going.
The good news is that the more you read the Bible, the more you want to! I heard someone say it this way: What you give yourself to, you create a desire for. Isn’t that the truth? It’s like binge-watching Netflix—the more you watch, the more you want to watch!
I remember when my first husband Brent started learning to play golf. His uncle was determined to teach him, but he hated it. Every time they had a golf date, Brent wanted to cancel. But his uncle persevered, and after a few weeks of regular play, Brent started loving it. Why? The more he played, the more he wanted to. It works that way with Bible-reading too.
It’s like going to the gym. You might not feel like going. You might come up with all sorts of “busy” excuses to put it off—you just don’t feel like carving out the extra time or putting forth the effort.
But then a few months later, you don’t like how you look or feel—you’re all doughy and out of shape! The same thing happens after long periods of not reading God’s Word—you can easily get out of shape spiritually. Then the devil can run rampant over your life!
You usually don’t see the result right away from skipping the gym—it takes some time—and you don’t see the result right away from skipping the Word, either. But in both cases, when you stop doing it, you get gradually weaker and weaker and you don’t even know it for a while. Don’t let that be you! Keep going.
