Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
Transformed by the Spirit
Judges 13:24-25; 14:19; 15:11
“The woman gave birth to a boy and named him Samson. He grew and the Lord blessed him, and the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him while he was in Mahaneh Dan…Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon him in power…Then three thousand men from Judah went down to…Samson, ‘Don’t you realize that the Philistines are rulers over us?...’”
Samson was anointed by the Spirit of God which completely changed his capacity, his context and his conquests. The Spirit of God fills us to overflowing with the life of God. Our capacity to commune with God, to receive from him and to be led by his Spirit, is shaped by the anointing of God’s Spirit on our lives. We can endure more, overcome more and sacrifice more, with the expanded capacity of the Spirit’s anointing. In a community quaking with fear of the Philistines, Samson lived with a different reality. The presence of God ruled his life, not the Philistines. His context was different. We too live with an audience of one if we know Jesus. Samson’s conquests were against people; he fought the Lord’s battles. Likewise, those anointed by the Spirit of God wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers. We love our enemies, forgive them and intercede for their freedom because our conquests are greater.
Thank you Jesus, you change my capacity, context and conquest by the Spirit of God.
