Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
The Lord’s Assignments
Judges 4:4, 6-7
“Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at the time…She sent for Barak…and said to him, ‘The Lord, the God of Israel, commands you: Go, take with you ten thousand men…and lead the way…I will lure Sisera…and his troops…and give him into your hands.’”
Deborah knew God’s authority in her life. She submitted both to the Spirit’s promptings and word, and to her husband. In her submission to authority, she also carried great authority. Her call to Barak was on behalf of the God of Israel. She herself received assignments from the Lord.
Why would a military leader like Barak not also respond well to the Lord’s assignments?
Barak asked for Deborah’s presence and support on this assignment because he didn’t trust the word of the Lord. He had not yet come fully under God’s authority. He was still controlled by fear.
Who has authority in our lives?
Are we available for the Lord’s assignments?
Lord Jesus, you are on a mission and you have defeated the enemy. I pray for grace to obey your call.
