Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
A Drawn Sword
Joshua 5:13-14
“Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, ‘Are you for us or for our enemies?’ ‘Neither,’ he replied, ‘but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.’ Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence…”
The Lord Jesus Christ is the commander of the army of the Lord; with justice he judges and makes war. “Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations…” (Revelation 19:15) God’s Word is that sword. God’s word to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob promised them the land of the Canaanites. God’s promises to Moses and Joshua were about to be fulfilled. The Word of God is living and active, sharper than a two-edged sword. The drawn sword must cut our hearts in cleansing, surgery and surrender, before we can hold it in front of others. It was the Word of God that led the army of God, it is no different today.
Lord Jesus, I worship and bow before you as my commander and leader. Your word is my standard and weapon, for your glory.
