Sow to Please the Spirit
Galatians 6:7-8
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”
Eternal life is a gift from God, through Jesus Christ. However, this gift is delivered to us by the Holy Spirit who fills us as we experience salvation and surrender our lives (not just our sin) to God. The Holy Spirit is our Counselor, Guide and Comforter on the journey through life toward our eternal home. If we ignore the Holy Spirit, it is to our peril. It is the Holy Spirit who transforms us into the image of Christ, confirming our kingdom assignments, equipping us for God’s mission and growing fruit and Christ-like character in our lives. To daily “sow to please the Spirit,” requires attentiveness and yielding to even the slightest promptings of the Spirit. The fruit of this obedience to the Spirit is eternal life - eternal life that is experienced now, not just in heaven. Eternal life is a quality of life that is free from the fear of death, filled with the Spirit’s presence and constantly giving glory to God. Eternal life is for here and now, and it is only found through the Spirit of God.
Lord Jesus, you are the resurrection and the life. You are eternal life through your Spirit in me.
