Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
God’s Will and Words
Numbers 22:12-13
“But God said to Balaam, ‘Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed.’ The next morning Balaam got up and said to Balak’s princes, ‘Go back to your own country, for the Lord has refused to let me go with you.’”
Balaam knew that God’s will and words would prevail; however, he had not yet fully surrendered his life to God’s will and words. Balaam had become influenced by the prestige, the power and the privileges of being the messenger for the “word of the Lord.” He left the door open for future solicitations by Balak’s envoys when he said, “the Lord has refused to let me go with you,” implying that he wanted to go, but was held back by the Lord. The price of his double mindedness was eventually his life. Only in total surrender to the Lord do we find alignment between his words and our ways. When personal gain and honor have a foothold in our hearts, we are vulnerable to manipulation both by others and to others.
Lord Jesus, I humble myself before you and surrender my will to you this day. May your will and words be accomplished in my life this day.
