DAY 63 OF 365

Faith-Filled Fruit

Mark 11:12-15, 17
“The next day as they were leaving Bethany [house of figs], Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, ‘May no one ever eat fruit from you again.’…On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple…‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.’”

Fig trees display their fruit each spring before they display their leaves. The fig tree Jesus cursed had leaves, but no fruit, indicating an issue with its health or nature. The temple was to express prayer as the faith-filled expectation of future fruit for all nations. This essential faith-filled prayer function was being replaced by the lucrative buying and selling of sacrificial animals as local merchants profited from this sacrifice required by God.

Is there a faith-filled prayer for the nations in the center of our lives and ministries?

It’s the kind of fruit Jesus is expecting.

Lord Jesus, fill my life with faith-filled expectant prayers for the nations and your glory.
