Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
Word Centered Living
Deuteronomy 11:18-19, 21
“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up…so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land…”
God’s truth and word require constant conversation, study and meditation in our lives if they are to transform our behavior, thinking and values. There is no neutral ground in the battle for our thoughts. We are either focused on God’s ways, or the world’s values, symbols and ways become our own.
How do we fix God’s word on our hearts and minds?
We must meditate on it, memorize it and make it a priority in our conversations. Homes that are centered on God’s word and presence raise children that are living in God’s ways. Our inability to practice and live with God’s word at the center of our homes results in spiritual drift and generations that forget God’s ways.
Lord Jesus, you are the Living Word! Your words and presence are the center of our home. Teach us your ways so we might walk in your truth.
