Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
Identity and Mission
Exodus 3:10-12
“‘So now go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt. But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh…?’ And God said, ‘I will be with you…’”
We find our identity in God our Creator and the One who calls us. When our identity comes from any other quality – our appearance, our performance, our family or our culture – we are constantly competing. However, when our identity is found in God and his presence with us, we are free to confront the idols and false s identities of our culture. Moses’ mission was to obey God, to be his ambassador, and to speak the words that God wanted spoken. Our call is much the same as we live on mission with Christ in our generation. Until we know who we are in God, we too will be asking questions of identity and not mission. It is God’s presence with us that answers all those questions and gives our life meaning and purpose.
Lord Jesus, thank you that you are with me and have called me to go. Guide my words and choices today, for your glory.
