Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
God’s Megaphone
Isaiah 38:15-17
“But what can I say? He has spoken to me, and he himself has done this, I will walk humbly all my years because of this anguish of my soul. Lord, by such things men live; and my spirit finds life in them too. You restored me to health and let me live. Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish.”
Sometimes God gets our attention through physical illness and calls us back to humility and surrender in ways that no one else could do. Our life is God’s idea. He gave us a living spirit that we might live for Him and for His glory.
When we choose to live for ourselves and our own glory, how does God get our attention?
There is no louder megaphone that illness, and illness unto death is the loudest volume.
Will we humble ourselves?
Will we invite God’s counsel and perspective?
For those with illnesses unto death, who love and serve God, their response of humility and worship is also a megaphone to the world that God’s grace is enough for every challenge. This world is not our home. All our spirits return one day to our Maker and Redeemer.
Lord Jesus, you are my Teacher. Thank you for the limitations and lessons in humility I’ve learned through illness and injury. May you be glorified.
