Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
God’s Glory
2 Kings 19:14, 19
“Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord…’Now O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O Lord are God.’”
Hezekiah was attacked and the people of Jerusalem and Judea were being threatened with death and deportation as slaves. He prepared for this battle by reinforcing the walls of Jerusalem, training officers and preparing for a siege; but his primary response was to call out to the Lord God of Israel. Hezekiah relied on God. Hezekiah humbled himself before God. His prayer was for God’s glory and witness to the kingdoms of the earth, not just his own deliverance and safety. Every attack, battle and challenge we face, is an opportunity to witness to the world around us of who God is in our lives. When our focus becomes God’s glory in all things, we too will be His witnesses.
Lord Jesus, your glory and renown are the focus of my life. May your name be known by how I live my life this day.
