The Promise of Life
2 Timothy 1:1, 10
“…according to the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus…it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.”
We live in a culture that promises life through possessions, entertainment and experiences. In the last days of Paul’s life and ministry, as he is suffering imprisonment and public accusations for the gospel, he is proclaiming life that is both for now and for eternity in Christ Jesus. The revelation of life in Jesus is found in the gospel, and this gospel is focused on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Jesus has destroyed the power of death to end life. Eternal life begins with a relationship with the resurrected Christ Jesus. Lots of things promise life, but Jesus delivers!
Lord Jesus, thank you for your life at work in me through your Spirit. Thank you for the revelation of life and the experience of it.
