The Scriptures
2 Timothy 3:15-17
“…how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
How important is Scripture in the life of a follower of Jesus?
It is often through Scripture that we see God’s revelation of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. It is in Scripture that we discover God’s ways so we can live a life that is pleasing to him. Every trade has its essential tools; for those who serve God, the Scriptures are an essential tool, useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. As we live the Scriptures, we accumulate life principles that illustrate how the Scriptures have been applied to our lives. It is these life applications of Scripture that help others live the ways of God as well. Teaching what we aren’t living is not life-giving. Our mission with Jesus includes living under the authority of the Scriptures he inspired.
Lord Jesus, thank you that your Word is food to me, a light for my path and wisdom.
