Listening To The Word - 1 Year

DAY 146 OF 365

The Beginning of Knowledge

Proverbs 1:7
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

As knowledge rapidly expands in our generation and new breakthroughs of knowledge in quantum physics, Nano-technology and computing, open up vast new fields of research, how relevant is Solomon’s proverb that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge?

To fear the Lord is to honor, respect and humble ourselves before his authority. To fear the Lord is to acknowledge the Lord God Almighty as our Creator and move beyond Deism to relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The fear of the Lord acknowledges that we are not God, that our brightest engineers, scientists and researchers are only discovering what God has already created. Solomon was the wisest and most knowledgeable man in the world in his generation and his knowledge came from God.

Is that still possible today?

Does God still give knowledge and wisdom to those who humble themselves and ask him for it?

Are there still breakthroughs in science and our understanding of physics and the universe for those who ask God for knowledge and wisdom?

The life and teachings of Solomon say there are. Through the indwelling Holy Spirit we have a teacher more knowledgeable than the wisest professor; - are we listening?

Lord Jesus, I too seek your wisdom and knowledge, for your glory.
