Listening To The Word - 1 YearSample
Justified
Romans 5:1, 9, 18
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…Since we have been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!...Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.”
God’s holiness and man’s sinfulness create barriers to relationship, a chasm so wide that no human can ever cross it. The penalty for sin is death. The payment for sin is much higher than the pleasure promised by sin. Without the spilling of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin. After thousands of years of animal blood sacrifices for the forgiveness of sins, God sent his only Son as a sinless sacrifice to do for us what we could not do for ourselves. Through faith in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for sin on our behalf, we are justified before a holy God. This one act of righteousness brought the gift of life and right relationship with God to those who will receive it. In the court of God’s throne room, when the penalty for our sin is announced, we have an advocate who will justify our right to live. It is through the sacrifice on our behalf by Jesus Christ. Our eternal life comes from Jesus Christ and him alone.
Lord Jesus, thank you for justifying me before the throne of God through your sacrifice on my behalf. Thank you for life. Thank you for love.
