21 Days To A Teenager’s Spiritual ChangeSample
Love People!
The bottom line of the Gospel is that God loves each and every person. There is hope for everyone and it is Jesus that represents this hope. He went to the places where, according to the law, He shouldn't have gone. He dined with the sinners and tax collectors (and nobody liked them at that time). He touched and healed the lepers, saying that those who were unclean in the eyes of the law were clean in the eyes of God. Jesus established close relationships and healed the suffering. He met the scholars, Pharisees, the rich and influential, but also those that were sick, poor, suffering, oppressed, excluded from the society, and those that looked like they were also forsaken by God. He cared about those who were dishonored, full of suffering, and bound by guilt. Jesus came and showed that God is the forgiving God, the God full of compassion and understanding. He is the God that loves. All people are precious in His eyes.
You don't have to like everyone, but you should love them. You are not going to have a Big Mac at McDonald's with everybody, but you should try to invite them there. Even the people you don't like, or the person that shamed you and put you down. Every person has sinners, lepers, the sick, poor, and oppressed around them. The question is what you do about them? Jesus helped them, invited them, and dined with them. What about you?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for every person that you put in my way. I know that I haven't met them by accident. Help me show your love to all people, with no exceptions. Change my heart, so I would have a heart of flesh, which is the one that knows how to love others. Amen.
Challenge: This one's going to be difficult . . . Think about the person you like the least, or someone that arouses your disgust. Maybe the smell of a homeless person repels you. Do something about it! Try to show your love to your enemy! Try to show love to someone whom you exclude from your circle. Maybe inviting a homeless person to lunch would be your breakthrough?
