Come, Let's Go! Discipleship In Evangelism

DAY 5 OF 7

MEMORIZE MATTHEW 24:14

"And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

COME HAVE BREAKFAST

There are two times Jesus has to ask professional fishermen to throw their nets on the other side of the boat. Once, when He first met them and then again, just before He had to leave them. You would think by this time after spending all of those days with Jesus that His followers would have this all figured out, but they still did not understand how to serve King Jesus in His upside-down Kingdom. Jesus fills their fishing nets once again and then takes some time over breakfast to patch up a pretty rocky relationship. Jesus loved Peter.

Of course, Peter was the only one who got out of the boat and walked on water. Then, he took his eyes off of Jesus and began to sink. Then, there was that time that he correctly answered Jesus' question about, "Who do you say that I am?" Peter nailed it and said, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God." That was an awesome moment. Good job Peter. Later, Jesus was trying to explain what was going to happen with the cross and His crucifixion. Peter just wouldn't listen. Jesus had to say, "Get behind me Satan." After a special trip up to the top of a mountain with just Jesus and James, and John, Peter wanted to build three tents. He wanted to build one for Moses, one for Elijah that showed up in a really cool way, and one for Jesus who was also really, really bright. Who wouldn't want to do something so special for an amazing mountain top moment like that? God has to show up in a big cloud and say basically, "NO PETER, JUST LISTEN TO JESUS AND DO WHAT HE SAYS!"

Peter set up for the last supper and did a good job. Those instructions were just wild with the jar, the donkey, and the upper room. "The master needs them." Peter did that all right, but then there was the foot washing thing that night. Peter didn't understand. He didn't want Jesus to wash his feet at first. Then, Peter falls asleep at the prayer meeting when Jesus needed him the most. Peter couldn't even stay awake and pray for an hour with the man that he said he would die for. Peter also boldly cuts off that one soldiers ear in the garden when they came to arrest Jesus that night. Jesus was able to miraculously put his ear back on. Listen Peter! Then, Peter denied Jesus three times and the rooster crowed just like Jesus said it would. Peter was pretty passionate, but he was often wrong about what he did with all that passion. He needed to simply LEARN HOW TO LISTEN TO JESUS and then go do what Jesus says. This is that very moment when this breakfast on the beach takes place with Peter, Jesus, and a few other disciples.

There was a reason Jesus had the angel tell Mary to make sure she told Peter He was back. Peter ran to the tomb, but Peter missed him. Then after throwing his net on the other side of the boat and pulling in all those fish after catching nothing all night Peter could not wait another second. He jumped out of the boat and swam to shore. He got to have breakfast with Jesus. Jesus wanted to make sure Peter got it. Peter finally learns to listen, but Jesus had to ask Peter three times if he loved him. Jesus made sure Peter knew that He wanted him to feed His sheep. Maybe you and Jesus have some things you need to clear up and talk about. He loves you just like He loves Peter. COME, HAVE BREAKFAST.

LET'S GO SENT TO SEND/MADE TO MULTIPLY

God sent Jesus. Jesus sends us the same way God sent Him. Jesus left the comforts of Heaven to come all the way down here to earth to ultimately pay for our sin by dying on the cross. The whole time he was showing us how to be a missionary just like him and how to multiply other missionaries like Him. Jesus was "sent to send" and "made to multiply." So are you. Don't try to do it your way. Try doing His will, His way. Throw your net on the other side of the boat.

COME, LET'S GO TRAINING TIP

"Breath In"  Hear from God. "Breath Out" Obey What He Says. Breath in and breath out. Come and go. Show and tell. Be and do. In and out. Here and there. Spiritual Breathing is the key to obeying the new covenant and living a normal Christian life. Jesus said, "MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, I KNOW THEM, and THEY FOLLOW ME." Are you listening? LISTEN! COME, LET'S GO!

About this Plan

Come, Let's Go! Discipleship In Evangelism

Three times in I Samuel, Jonathan said to his young armor bearer, "Come, Let's Go!" Three times in Revelation 22 Jesus said, "I'm coming soon!" It's been more than 2,000 years since Jesus made this promise. Jesus gave the church a simple job to do. It's called the Great Commission. So church, why hasn't Jesus COME back yet? We need discipleship in evangelism! COME, LET'S GO!
