TRUE GLORY

Jesus’s disciples must have spent a lot of their time in confusion. They had witnessed Jesus perform amazing miracles and His triumphant entry into Jerusalem where crowds of people flocked to praise and glorify Him. His followers must have been excited, freedom was here!

Indeed freedom had arrived, but not in the way that they had thought. For in order to bring us life and freedom, Jesus had to face death. The death of Jesus had more power than any military ruler could ever bring, for His death had the power to free us from the grip of sin and evil in our lives.

His death was not His own plan; Scripture tells us that Jesus was troubled at the thought of having to die. But in order to glorify the Father, Jesus was utterly obedient to Him. This is how true glory is revealed, not through pomp and splendour, but through humility and obedience. Jesus lived a life that was perfectly obedient to the Father and thus through His death and resurrection He became ‘the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him’.

FOR REFLECTION
• In what areas of your life are you being disobedient to God? Now is the time to turn back to Him.
• Do you want a life of freedom in Christ or a life trapped in the grip of sin?
• Whatever sin it is that you are fighting, give it to Jesus because He has already won the battle.

PRAYER
Father, I thank You for Your Son, Jesus. I thank You that through His death, we may have life. Help me to be obedient to Your guidance so that I may bring You glory in everything I do. Amen.
