Lent: With One VoiceSample
I AM NOT WORTHY
Imagine being the guy telling the world the Messiah is finally coming. That was the role of John the Baptizer. He was a trumpet voice for someone else. It would be humbling to say to be second. However John’s purpose was clear; he was to prepare the way for Jesus and he faithfully undertook it. John understood something we can all learn, that truth is found only in Jesus The Christ.
What about us? Are we offering our lives to God, saying, ‘Use me as You see fit?’ Are we messengers of the greatest news ever given to this world? Are we willing to prepare the way, to be second?
As we begin this journey toward the Cross and Resurrection, we should ask if our lives are marked with and for Christ. Is He first? Are we known as His in such a way that others see Him in us?
FOR REFLECTION
• How might you carry the Good News like John the Baptist?
• Who do you know that needs a messenger speaking into their lives?
• Is Jesus first in your life? If not, what keeps you from offering your life as a living sacrifice for Him?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for the message of the good news. I confess that I haven’t always carried Your name as I should. Please give me the strength and discipline to make You first, so that the world may see You in me and rejoice!

About this Plan
A Lent devotional material created by the pastors of International Churches of Hong Kong, a guide for decisions, a vision of the future and a challenge to lifestyle. It is a subversive material that undermines contemporary assumptions and defies social norms. It is all of this because it is the Word of God as recorded by Mark and others, and therefore is about the transformation of people and communities.
