MORE THAN A MIRACLE WORKER

There was once a clothing advertiser who passed up the movie star, Angelina Jolie, because she was too famous. And for good reason. Audiences are often attracted to the ‘wow’ more than the words. So it was also with Jesus. Very early in His ministry, news of Jesus’s miracles went viral. People crowded around Him, being attracted to the ‘wow’ of His miracles, but missed His message that the kingdom of God is near.

That is why in today’s Bible passage, after He so compassionately and powerfully healed the man with leprosy, He said, ‘See that you don’t tell this to anyone,’ so as to stop fueling the hype. The same happens today, when people come to Jesus for a new job or a big raise, but know little of the message of His glory, majesty, and kingdom authority.

• Why do you pray to Jesus? Is it for what He can do for you, or for who He is?

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, reveal yourself more and more through Your Word. I am attracted to Your blessings and Your promises. But now, reveal Your glory and majesty so fully to me, that I would be attracted only to You.
