Read To Me Daily Semester 2Sample
NUMBERS 24-25:
Yesterday in Numbers we heard how Balak sent for the shaman Balaam to curse Israel, and we heard that God instead moved him to bless Israel two times. And a third sacrifice of 7 bulls and 7 rams was made.
PSALM 40:
Today’s poem is Psalm 40, and this great psalm is quoted in the New Testament. It is a hymn of praise which conveys many New Testament concepts. Some of you will perceive some differences in the NT quote. This is because the NT quote was taken from the Septuagint— the ancient translation of the OT into Greek.
ACTS 2a:
Yesterday in chapter 1 of Acts, we heard about Jesus' followers who were waiting in Jerusalem for the promised Holy Spirit and for power from God.
Let’s pray together:
Our heavenly Father, You are worthy of all praise. We put our hope in You alone. We are but a puff of wind; we last such a short time. But your promises are faithful and true. With you we are safe! There is no magic charm, no witchcraft that can be used against we, your people. And we your people, the spiritual Israel say, “Look what God has done!” We praise You, Lord, that Jesus has caused us to become your chosen and holy people. You are not like people. People lie. You are not a human and You don’t change your mind. Whatever You promise, You do. You speak, and it’s done. Today again, Lord, we need your power. Fill us with your power, that we could be your witnesses— beginning right where we are, and going even to the ends of the earth.
