Day 1: This Year I Will Seek God And Grow Spiritually

This is the year to grow in your relationship with God more than ever before. Knowing God deeply is the most important goal you could have as you look forward to the year ahead. Every other dream or resolution fades in comparison to the desire to know Him more intimately. 

The Amplified Bible puts it this way in Philippians 3:10: “[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly]...” 

The greatest goal you can have in life is to grow spiritually. How do you do that? By spending time in prayer, reading God’s Word, surrounding yourself with believers, and gathering consistently at church. Keep a journal, join a small group, or read through a Bible study with a friend. Take a step to grow with God this year! 

Your Christian life doesn’t have to be a rollercoaster ride. You really can have a deep, genuine, and consistent walk with God. It’s not enough to be around people who know Jesus—you have to know Him for yourself. 

Before putting the best of your energy and effort into working out, saving money, opening a business, writing a book or whatever your goals are this year, pause and ponder how you can invest in your relationship with God. Determine to seek Him more than ever before. As you do, you’ll be changed from the inside out.

May this be the year where I discover a new level of intimacy with You. I will seek you with all of my heart. Holy Spirit, draw me closer to you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
