Who is God the Holy Spirit?

There is a pretty scary story around the time Jesus first recruits His disciples. They all get in a boat and He tells them to head across to the other side. It is the middle of the night and the wind begins to blow stronger and the waves begin to grow larger.  Imagine a small boat being tossed by the waves as the crew scrambles around yelling at each other over the howling wind. Wave after wave comes crashing into the boat and it fills with water to the point of almost capsizing.  Jesus wakes up from His nap, stands up, and at the sound of His command, it all stops.

Life isn’t supposed to be scary when Jesus is in your boat.  It’s a terrible feeling to see someone you love scared and afraid.  God knows that life is scary; you don’t know when the next storm is going to spring up and waves will come crashing into your boat. That is why He gives us the Holy Spirit, who is the presence of God. It is not enough to know who God is; He wants to dwell within you.  God the Holy Spirit is the presence of God who lives in you and works through you.  The Holy Spirit helped the disciples by comforting them and rescuing them, and the Holy Spirit will help you and comfort you in your storms of life too.
