Life In The Kingdom

DAY 18 OF 45

Are You Standing Firm?

The Roman soldier’s shoes were fashioned from thick leather with nails through the soles. The studded soles enabled the soldier to stand firm. They kept the soldier’s feet from slipping in battle and allowed the soldier to maintain his position against his enemies. Three times in this passage Paul tells us to stand, that is, not to fall - and he tells us to stand firm in Galatians 5:1 and produce the fruit of the Spirit - peace!

Just like the Roman soldier, we are given assignments in life that may lead us to some difficult places or difficult people. It may be rocky relationships and rough situations we find ourselves in. We may be dealing with a difficult financial situation, an unexpected illness, or a challenge in the workplace.

If we are not wearing the peace that comes from the gospel, we will be mentally and emotionally bruised and battered. On the other hand, if the peace is ruling our heart, mind, and emotions, we can make it through tough situations without any scrapes or bruises.

Prayer: Dear Lord, by Your name we will “stand our ground” for the enemy has no control over us. We bring Your word of truth as strength and we know that we don’t fight alone for You are with us. In all situations that we are in, we know that You are covering us and protecting us even from attacks that we are unaware of. In Your mighty name, we pray, Amen!
