Life in the Kingdom

DAY 21 OF 45

Patience Rewards

Patience prepares and position us to receive God’s promise and reward. We will be rewarded and will receive the provision, promotion, protection, and even a life partner. This is because God is worth waiting for in order to bring the best results for us.

Abraham, too, waited patiently and “received what was promised.”

13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, 14 saying, "Surely I will bless you and multiply you." 15 And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise. (Hebrews 6:13-15)

Patience is essential to daily life. Nearly everywhere and anytime—we have the opportunity to practice it. At home with our kids, at work with our colleagues, at the grocery store, and on the road, patience can make the difference between annoyance and equanimity, between worry and tranquility.

Recent studies have found that, good things really do come to those who wait. Some of these science-backed benefits are patient people enjoy better health, are better friends and neighbours and achieve their goals.

Prayer: Dear Lord, teach me to be patient at all times in all circumstances. Even when there is so much going on that makes me restless, help me to have peace and know that Your timing is the perfect timing. Help me to know that my rewards from heaven await me when I am steadfastly labouring on in Your name. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen!
