21 Days After Camp

DAY 14 OF 21

Healthy Relationships

When we talk about healthy relationships, we must first decide where to begin. The old saying, “Where you start determines where you finish” is still very true. So, where do you start when talking about healthy relationships? As Christians, the Word is always our starting point. In our text, we see that there is a need to stand together. When relationships are based on spiritual unity, it is not surprising that our connection and affection for another goes to a deeper level. This applies to dating, marriage, ministry and everything else in-between! (Even relationships with our parents!)

Ecclesiastes 4:12 uses the illustration of a rope or cord to describe how our friendships or emotional bonds can make us stronger.  Unfortunately, when relationships are not based on the Word and mutual respect, we can end up in a weakened state, susceptible to the attacks of the enemy. Ephesians 4:16 also illustrates this, using the example of the human body, which is united around Christ as the head, “From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Christ is supposed to be the center of our relationships.

Are your relationships based on following Christ, centered on the Word, or are they based on something else? What can you do differently to form healthy bonds in your life?
