I Will Choose Faith Over Fear
Moses went to the most powerful man in the world and said, “You know those slaves that are building all your pyramids? I’m taking them, and we’re all leaving. You’re not going to have slave labor anymore. Let my people go.”
Moses had every reason to be afraid. He was going up against the most powerful man on the planet at that point. Pharaoh in those days was considered a god, and whatever Pharaoh said you had to do. What he said was the law. And here comes Moses who says, “We aren’t going to do what you say anymore. I’m not afraid of you because I report to a higher authority.” Talk about acting courageously in face of intimidating foes.
But it didn’t come naturally to Moses. He second-guessed himself when God chose him. He was worried about a disastrous outcome. But because he accomplished great things for God tells us that he eventually chose to let go of fear and embrace faith.
It’s the same with us. Faith is a choice. Faith isn’t automatic. Faith isn’t something that comes naturally just because you’re a Christian. You must choose faith. To live the life God calls you to live takes faith.
Faith is necessary for salvation. You can’t believe in Jesus without faith. Faith is also necessary for maturity. You can’t live for Jesus without faith.
Fear keeps you from greatness. Fear keeps you average or mediocre. But you are destined to change the world. But you can’t unless you choose to have faith and reject fear.
Challenge:
Don’t settle for mediocrity (fear) when God has called you to greatness (faith)!
