Illuminate: A 21-Day JourneySample
Day 15: Light of the World
So we’ve looked at what it means to be illuminated, and where we get our illumination. What about those around us though? What role do we play in illuminating others? Take a second and read Matthew 5:13–16 before reading the reflection. As you read this passage, pay attention to who Jesus says you are.
Reflection
“You are the light of the world” is a HUGE statement. As Jesus gave his famous Sermon on the Mount, in the middle of it he turns to the believers and says this. His point was that there is a lot of darkness around us. We struggled to find the hope, peace, and joy that we only realized once we found Christ. As his lights, it is our responsibility to shine so others might see him too.
- How bright is your light?
- What is causing it to dim today?
- What is one way you can brighten the life of someone around you?

About this Plan
Coming off a retreat or revival? What next? You and I are the church of Jesus Christ on earth today, the visible representation of an invisible God. We have the Holy Spirit living within us, and have been commissioned to shine (illuminate) his love in the midst of a dark world. But what does that mean? How did we get here? And what do we do with all of this? All good questions, and if you stick with us through this journey, we are confident that the Holy Spirit will open your eyes to the light within you that God intends to use to illuminate the world!
