What Did Jesus Do & Why Does It Matter?Exemplo

The Dead Are Raised
Welcome to Day 6!
Today’s story might feel “out there” to our modern minds—Jesus raising a 12-year-old girl from the dead. It sounds impossible, doesn’t it? Yet, eyewitness accounts, preserved for millennia, tell us it happened. And like those who witnessed it, you might find yourself grappling with what it all means.
Reminder: Take time to read today’s passage on your own or with a friend. Then, when you catch up this week—whether in person or on a call—share what stood out, reflect on your insights, and discuss how it connects to your life. Keep the conversation going!
Before we focus on the miracle itself, let’s step into the emotions of those involved.
Jairus, a respected synagogue leader, had status and influence, yet nothing could save his dying daughter. Have you ever felt powerless, wishing there was something—anything—you could do?
Then there’s the bleeding woman, suffering for 12 years and considered an outcast. Despite her fear of rejection, she reached for Jesus in hope. Have you ever felt unseen or unworthy, longing for change?
Both of them—one highly regarded, the other excluded—took a risk on Jesus.
And He didn’t ignore either of them.
The woman was healed instantly when she touched Jesus’ robe, but He stopped, called her “daughter,” and restored her dignity. Meanwhile, Jairus received the worst news—his daughter had died. But Jesus turned to him and said, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
At Jairus’s home, the crowd mocked Jesus when He said, “She’s not dead but asleep.” But He took her hand and simply said, “Little girl, get up.” And she did.
More Than a Miracle – A Glimpse of Something Greater
Jesus wasn’t just displaying power—He was revealing something bigger:
- Jesus is never too late. Jairus thought hope was lost, but Jesus had other plans. What if the delays in your life aren’t a “no,” but a “not yet”?
- Jesus restores more than the body. The woman wasn’t just healed—she was welcomed back into her community. What if Jesus cares about your whole life, even the parts you think don’t matter?
- Jesus challenges our expectations. Death seemed final, but Jesus treated it like temporary sleep. He was showing that God’s Kingdom brings renewal, restoration, and hope beyond what we can imagine.
This story isn’t just about two miraculous healings—it’s about a Jesus who notices, restores, and invites us to trust Him.
Maybe you’re not sure what to think about Him yet. That’s okay. But what if, like Jairus or the woman, you took a step toward Him anyway?
Reflection Questions
- What new insights do you have about Jesus, His actions, and His motivations?
- Jesus told Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” What do you think He meant by that?
- When Jesus said, “She’s not dead but asleep,” people laughed. Have you ever struggled to believe in something bigger than yourself?
- If Jesus were to meet you in your current situation, what do you think He would say to you?
We’ll see you back here for Day 7, our final day!
