Lead And FollowSample
I’ll obey the leaders God gave me.
When you choose to obey, you please God and have good consequences. When you choose to disobey, God still loves you, but the consequences are not so good.
The son in the Bible story found out the hard way. He got tired of living in his father’s house and following his father’s rules, so he took his part of the money and left. When he left, he disobeyed his father’s rules. It was fun for a while, but he lost his money and didn’t have food. He had to feed pigs, and he wanted to eat their garbage food!
He was afraid to go home, tell his father what he did, and say he was sorry, but he did it. It was the right thing to do. His father loved him so much he forgave him and still wanted the best for him!
If you’re having trouble obeying like the son did, pray for God’s forgiveness. God will forgive you, because He loves you so much! Ask your leaders to forgive you too, and ask God to help you start choosing to obey! He will because He always wants the best for you.
Talk It Over: What good consequences do you have when you obey? What bad consequences do you have when you disobey?
