Lead And Follow

DAY 2 OF 8

I will think before I follow.

In the Bible verse Matthew 15:14, Jesus talked about one person who can’t see following another person who can’t see.

Do you know what Jesus was teaching us when He said that? If you follow someone who is blind to God’s way (that means they don’t know what God’s way is), you’ll both wind up making a wrong choice.

How can you tell if someone knows God’s way or not? Look at the example they’re setting and ask yourself some questions.

  • Do the choices they make put God first?
  • Do the choices they make show love to others?
  • Will I be pleasing God if I follow their example?

If you have to answer, “No,” to any of those questions, don’t follow that person’s example. Don’t be like a blind person leading another who is blind!

Watch the video and play Letter Guess to help you memorize Matthew 15:14.

Letter Guess

  1. Write all of Matthew 15:14 on the back of a piece of paper.
  2. Turn the paper over.
  3. Write only the first letter of each word from Matthew 15:14 on the front of the paper.
  4. Ask your friend to look at the front of the paper and guess the word each letter stands for.
  5. Give them a high five for each correct word.
  6. Give the page to your friend. Now you have to guess the word each letter stands for!

Talk It Over: Name some examples that show God’s way. Name some examples that don’t show God’s way. How can you be kind to someone even when they aren’t setting a godly example?

About this Plan

Lead And Follow

Are you a leader or a follower? God made you to be a little of both. He’ll help you know who to follow, and how to be a leader! For Parents: Your child will have a deeper understanding of each day’s reading and questions if you complete this Bible Plan with them. This plan includes several games to play for verse memorization. You may want to supervise use of materials.
